Welcome to the home of the Chicago Area Solo Librarians (CASL)This dynamic group of solo librarians in the Chicago area formed in 2001. Solo library professionals work in all types of libraries: law firms and medical libraries, school and academic libraries, advertising agencies and corporate libraries. We have chosen the Rook, the "castle piece" of a chess game, at left, as our symbol, to illustrate our belief that a solo librarian finds a true "fortress of support" by both problem-sharing and problem-solving with a network of colleagues. Solos can then set forth in a strategically stronger place to develop their libraries and services for their users.
CASL would like to express thanks to its many supporters and helpers. Thanks go especially to the Metropolitan Library System for their unfailing enthusiasm and support of our efforts and for hosting our webspace. MLS' tech guru, Jenny Levine, graciously helped navigate our way here and Serial Hive LLC has generously sponsored our new web address (www.caslibrarians.info).
