Welcome to the home of the Librarian's Expert Assistance Database (LEAD) of the Chicago Area Solo Librarians (CASL). Our "expertise database" captures and details the professional librarian skills, talents and experience of those solos in the Chicago area who have contributed their expertise ("data"). The purpose of the project is to provide a knowledge base of solo librarian talent in the area to encourage professional interaction, consultation and support with other local solos. Solo librarians in or near Chicago are welcome to create a profile. Email CASL and request a login and password. Once solo librarians contribute data, they will have full access to the records of other contributing CASL members*. All visitors are encouraged to browse or search our database of solo librarians' talents. Any questions or for more info, please fill out our webform,

*PLEASE NOTE: All visitors to the site are encouraged to browse and search the freely available database, but the contact and personal information of our solos will be abbreviated for those who are not members. There is email contact information provided for our solos, but please know that the individual librarians voluntarily offered their information, and they are not required to reply to any contact (or they may just not be able to respond to any contact right away). This project is meant as a networking tool for our solos, and we are sensitive to the already strained schedules of solo librarians. We want to respect the time and the privacy of those librarians who share their information.
